#PlayInMay Inside My Purse: with Pictures!

Hey y'all!

Today is my last #PlayInMay post, since this weekend's prompt is to look back on your favorites from the month and I'm really not that into looking backwards, so I'm glad that my last post for this challenge is something a little new, and most importantly, easy.

Nailsxo World Cup Nail Art Competition

Hey y'all!

Emily over at Nailsxo decided to host a friendly nail art competition in honor of the world cup which starts in a little over a week.  Each nail artist who signed up was randomly given a country with a team in this year's World Cup, and we were to make nail art in honor of that team.  I somehow managed to draw England!

Newspaper Nails LTNC

Hey y'all!

Can you believe it's already Wednesday and May is almost over?  Zoom zoom zoom!  This week's prompt for the Technique Challenge is Newspaper Nails - a technique that I had never tried and which lived up to the name "challenge."

Abstract floral stripey nail art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

For the final May Tri-Polish Tuesday, I've opted to save myself some grief and only use two of the three polishes in this abstract floral nail art, using some beautiful polishes that I picked up at M&S, labeled as a Downton Abbey trio, and a US indie from Nail Pattern Boldness called Clairvoyant Visitor.

#PlayInMay - Feel a Thing: One Year in England

Hey y'all!

Yesterday marked exactly one year since a girl and her dog set foot in England for goodsies.  The time has moved incredibly fast, and my life is SO MUCH DIFFERENT than it was when I left Texas.  This weekend, the Axis of Ineptitude wants me to Feel a Thing, and somehow it seemed appropriate that I tell you some of my feelings about this past year.

Feature Friday: MoYou Nails Stamping Nail Art

*** This post contains items which were sent for review.***
Hey y'all!

Today I want to show you some nail art I did with polish, stamping plates, and stamper from MoYou Nails.  I received the basic equivalent of the MoYou Kitty Set, with the exception being that I received Lilac polish rather than the standard Black which comes in the kit.

Swirly Matte Gradient nail art - LNTC

Hey y'all!

This week the Llama Nails challenge brings me to a technique that I've shown a LOT of over the short life of this blog, but it is one of my favorite techniques for achieving beautiful nails without a whole lot of talent required.  To change things up, I actually attempted a different method to achieve gradient nails, but it got a bit mussed and I wasn't happy with the results, so I ultimately went back to my tried and true.

All My Children Have Paws Nail Art TPTC

Hey y'all!

I'm back with the penultimate red, green, and purple nail art for the May Tri-Polish Tuesdays Challenge. I was sitting here one evening, drinking my tea, and Mr. Faff came in and declared that I should do a nail art inspired by my favorite mug, which happens to contain three of this month's TPTC colors!  Here's what happened:

#PlayInMay Raw: The Fault In Our Stars

Hey y'all!

Today the Axis of Ineptitude wants me to be Raw.  Unfortunately, perhaps, that's exactly what I'm going to be.  I have some stuff to talk about that is deeply personal and I'm not entirely sure as I write this that I will be able to push the Publish button, or that I'll be able to leave it posted if I do.  Also, nail art.

Waterspotted Neon nail art - LNTC

Hey y'all!

This week the Llama Nails Technique Challenge prompted me to try a new technique of which I was very, very frightened.  After having pulled out so many hairs over trying to water marble, I figured that water spotting would yield much the same result.  I am happy to report that it was much easier, although arguably my results aren't as nice as they could have been.

Spring maple leaves? TPTC

Hey y'all!

Let me start off by wishing my mommy a very happy birthday today.  I wish I could be there to celebrate it with her, but such is life.  Today I took some very LOOSE inspiration from my husband's little maple trees that live in front of our house.  Their spring colors seems to be green and greenish yellow tinged with red.  They're quite pretty, and I wanted to sort of play with the colors in some nail art.  I cannot confess to these actually looking anything like maple leaves, but whatever...

#PlayInMay - Make a Thing

Hey y'all!

This weekend the Axis of Ineptitude brings you more THINGS!  Last weekend we cooked Things, and this weekend we are making Things.  I have two Things that were made in the Faff household, one by me and one by Mr. Faff.

Hey Swatch It! - Nail Pattern Boldness Allons-Y

Hey y'all!

Today I've got a pretty little glitter gem from Nail Pattern Boldness that I brought back from my trip home in March.  I actually purchased several products from this brand to show you, but I had been lusting this polish for a long time before I finally bought it, so I think it's only fitting that it gets to feature first.  Take a look at Allons-Y:

Holo dot skittles - LNTC

Hey y'all!

Wednesday brings us back around to the Llama Nails Technique Challenge, and this week we're all making skittles, which is a reference to the candy and probably goes back to a manicure long ago where some lovely nail artist painted all of her nails different bright candy colors and decided it looked like fruity candy.  Anyway... my own creation for today's challenge is a bit of a fail on two fronts, primarily because even though I really did use different polishes on every nail (promise!) they all kind of look the same, and secondly because my stamping kind of sucks.  Here, look.

Aquatic sparkle feat all ELF product - TPTC

Hey y'all!

If you celebrated Star Wars Day on Sunday, let me start by reminding you to fear the Revenge of the Sixth.  We've entered a new month of Tri-Polish Tuesdays, and this month the colors have gotten substantially less friendly to work with.  This month we'll be featuring nail art using purple, red, and green polishes, and I'm a bit worried about that!  This week I decided to attempt to do another all-ELF polish look, but I didn't really have a planned design in mind.  I just sort of picked three polishes and went with it!

#PlayInMay - Cook a thing

Hey y'all!

Second post today, woohoo!  This weekend the Axis of Ineptitude challenged me to Cook a Thing.  I'm a big fan of roast thing, and also fried thing, and baked thing, and once in a while, thing wings.  However, this weekend I tackled a 4.5 lb pork loin and the various ways of serving one ginormous piece of meat for two people.  Not only did this make the single cut of meat very versatile, but also very economical!

Hey Swatch It!: Literary Lacquers More Like Fire Than Light

Hey y'all!

Today I've got a beautiful orange holo from my US indie haul.  Literary Lacquers is a new brand to me, but I was really feeling orange polish there for a minute, so I picked up this gorgeous holo and I think it will be perfect for any future UT Longhorn nails I want to paint!  Meet More Like Fire Than Light:

#PlayInMay - Define yourself

Hey y'all!

Day 2 of Play in May asks us to define ourselves in an uncommon way.  Well if that isn't a big book of vague, I dunno what is.  However, I persevere.

Come Play in May: A blogwright's right to write, the rites.

Hey y'all!

Forgive the strained title.  It's very hard to get all four spellings of a homophone into a succinct yet catchy title.  Today I'm deviating from the standard nail path, again.  My girlfriends and fellow bloggers Evin and Shelley have been collaborating, only this time it doesn't require the use of hand tools or much mockery of PeopleWhoAreDumb.   They've defined the convergence point of being a blogger and still being a real person, and they've created a "challenge" around it - Come Play in May with the Axis of Ineptitude.  This challenge will run May 1-31, and the only rule is to Be Real in your writing.  Also, because this challenge is created by real people, they know that not everyone will have an entry every day.  In fact, if we're taking speculation, I'm gonna bet that not even the founders manage to do the full challenge, every day, on time - because they're real people.  I can already tell you that I will not make all 31 prompts, but I shall endeavor to join in when the prompt speaks to me and I don't have other crap on my plate.  Are you with me so far?  Good.

The starting prompt for this challenge:
