I'm back with the penultimate red, green, and purple nail art for the May Tri-Polish Tuesdays Challenge. I was sitting here one evening, drinking my tea, and Mr. Faff came in and declared that I should do a nail art inspired by my favorite mug, which happens to contain three of this month's TPTC colors! Here's what happened:
As you can see, my mug is patterned with lots of different colored pawprints on a black background, so I isolated the three TPTC colors and used them on two accent nails, while leaving the other nails black with a single rhinestone.
L-R: Pure Ice Superstar!, Revlon Gum Drop, China Glaze Liquid Leather, elf Smokin Hot, Barry M Key Lime |
So basically, after 2 previous attempts, I stuck with this pattern, which has three paw prints that still aren't spaced as nicely as I wanted, but whatev. After I let the white polish dry, I went back in with the same dotting tool and tried to cover without overrunning the white with my purple, green, and red.
As you can see, this was note completely successful. Turns out my polishes were a lot more opaque and visible on the nail in the parts where I colored outside the lines, and I still had skips where a thin white outline shows through in other places. Now, the plus side is that they didn't look too bad at arm's length, and it wasn't until I looked at my photos that I realized just how bad I am at coloring inside the lines. It's amazing I managed to pass through gradeschool, but I like to think that it's just because I'm a draw-my-own-lines kinda girl. We'll go with that, right?
The other nails were all finished with these white iridescent rhinestones that came in a Nail Rock kit.
As a bonus, I thought I'd show you the inside lip of the mug, because it's cute. There's another paw print on the bottom of the mug, but if I showed you the tea stains in the corner of the mug, my mother would fuss at me really a lot. It's not that I don't try; it's just that it's really hard to get my scouring pad down in that crease!
Next week brings the final green/red/purple look, and I have to say I couldn't be more relieved. This month's colors have been exceptionally challenging and I am very much looking forward to moving on to a new set. As always be sure to check out the other Tri-Polish looks below, and I'll see ya tomorrow!
This is so cute ♥
ReplyDeleteLove!!!! My dogs are more important to me than nail polish (and that's saying a lot) so I love it when the two passions are combined! This mani is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWell if your nail polish was more important, I'd be highly disappointed in you :P Thanks honey!
DeleteAw! cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! I love the mug idea, especially because the bright colours look so good over the black x
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! That's what hubby says too!
DeleteHaha I love it being inspired by your favourite mug. My favourite one is much more plain so it wouldn't really work here - but job all the same. Puppies are so cute :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my book trends post: http://olivia-savannah.blogspot.nl/2014/05/bookish-trends-and-not-trends.html
Such a cute manicure!! Where did you get that cup?? I need it in my life :) (as it is extraordinarily, on-point true!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it came from the Animal Rescue Site store, but it was years ago. The closest one that I found is this one: https://theanimalrescuesite.greatergood.com/store/ars/item/49599/all-my-children-have-paws-grande-mug?source=4-308-40
DeleteAs a bonus, of course, the proceeds go to the charity.
Ouch, confirmed. Just found the one that I have and it's discontinued.
