Grey Lilac Teal Watermarbling - TPTC

Hey y'all!

I decided that maybe I should throw together another TriPolish Tuesday look for you before the challenge ends, and after seeing Anne's water marble decals a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try my hand at making some while the weather was still warm enough to get the water temperature right, and I actually had really good results!  This month the colors are grey/silver, teal, and lilac.

Zigzags and Confetti nail art - TPTC

*** This post contains items which were sent for review. ***

Hey y'all!

First off, I just need to say that ever since yesterday, I've had the song Trouty Mouth stuck in my head.  It's torture.  Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.  You may have figured out by now that I've really been having fun playing with the new stamping plates that MoYou Nails sent to me for review, because I've been on a bit of a stamping spree the last few days.  Today's Tri-Polish nail art is no exception, except that I also got to use three of the new polishes that I purchased from MoYou Nails as well.   The first Tuesday in August brings round a new set of colors with which to work, and I ended up with this look which has a bit of a circus feel to it.

Spots and Stripes - TPTC

Hey y'all!

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for the last pink/purple/green Tri-Polish look this month.  I decided to do a little playing with dots and stripes to create this glittery nail art.

Casual Pi Day Confetti dotticure - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Happy Tuesday!  Whereas March 14 is Pi Day (3/14), today, the 22nd of July (or 22/7 in Euro shorthand) is Pi Approximation Day or Casual Pi Day, so to celebrate the occasion I have created a little dotticure that reminds me of confetti, and oddly, not pie.  *shrug*  It's also Tri-Polish Tuesday, so I've used this month's colors of purple, green, and pink to create this look.

Acetone wash neon - TPTC

Hey y'all!

I actually did this look a couple weeks back, as you'll be able to tell if you pay attention to the length and shape of my nails, but I wanted to do a bit more playing and research before I revealed it.  I haven't seen anyone else use this particular technique, so I'm calling it an acetone wash. It could be considered a variation of the watercolor technique, but the key difference here is that this technique lets gravity do all the work - I don't manipulate the polish with any tools except the acetone.

Brazilian Outlined Textured Nail Art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today I have another Tri-Polish Tuesday look for you, inspired by a new collection I picked up recently at Asda with a Brazilian theme.  I also wanted to dabble a bit with a new (to me) technique, so I came up with these tri-color outlined textured nails.

Polka dot skittles - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Something that I haven't been posting about here is that I recently joined a Facebook group created by Debbie (of the Crumpet-y fame) dedicated to learning nail art from the cuticle forward, as it were, called SIMPLES.  I wasn't sure when going into it exactly how much interesting blog content I'd be able to derive from this process, but it was important to me to be able to join a group of ladies with ALL LEVELS of experience and sort of go "back to school" with techniques.  If the Techniques Challenge has taught me anything, it's that my skills definitely need practice and honing, and so I thought this might be a good way to go about it.  We spent the first 4 weeks going over some real basics, like glitter accent nails and simple skittles.  This week we've moved on to dotting tools, and Debbie set us with the first lesson I'd never attempted before:  the polka dot pattern.  Since this was a first for me, and also because I needed to save myself a little bit of time this weekend with painting, I decided to combine today's TPT with this week's SIMPLES and so I give you my tri-polish polka dot skittles!

Floral stamping with bead accents - TPTC

Hey y'all!

First off, I have a bit of exciting news.  On Saturday I did my registration and enrollment to start nail tech certification courses in September.  I'm really excited to start "officially" learning how to create beautiful nails, and can't wait to share that experience here on the blog.  Until then, I will continue with business as usual, nail art and faffing about with things as they strike my fancy.  Today's Tri-Polish Tuesday brings me to a kind of look that I've seen in a few places but wanted to give it my own.  I've created a stamped floral mani that uses microbeads to accent the centers of the flowers.

Funky Leopard - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today I have a bright and funky stamped leopard print nail art for you.  Unfortunately I'm not very happy with the quality of the stamping plate, but I am pleased with the overall finished look for today's Tri Polish Tuesday.

Spotted watercolor nail art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

It's JUNE!  It's like it's almost officially summertime!  Happily for me June also meant a changing of the guards in the Tri-Polish Tuesdays Challenge, and our new colors this month are turquoise, coral, and nude.  That leaves a LOT of wiggle room because nude can incorporate a pretty big array of shades, and turquoise is a bit ambiguous as well.  I decided to have a play with some polishes and ended up with this look, which I think is fairly watercolor-y, then added some dots for interest.

Abstract floral stripey nail art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

For the final May Tri-Polish Tuesday, I've opted to save myself some grief and only use two of the three polishes in this abstract floral nail art, using some beautiful polishes that I picked up at M&S, labeled as a Downton Abbey trio, and a US indie from Nail Pattern Boldness called Clairvoyant Visitor.

All My Children Have Paws Nail Art TPTC

Hey y'all!

I'm back with the penultimate red, green, and purple nail art for the May Tri-Polish Tuesdays Challenge. I was sitting here one evening, drinking my tea, and Mr. Faff came in and declared that I should do a nail art inspired by my favorite mug, which happens to contain three of this month's TPTC colors!  Here's what happened:

Spring maple leaves? TPTC

Hey y'all!

Let me start off by wishing my mommy a very happy birthday today.  I wish I could be there to celebrate it with her, but such is life.  Today I took some very LOOSE inspiration from my husband's little maple trees that live in front of our house.  Their spring colors seems to be green and greenish yellow tinged with red.  They're quite pretty, and I wanted to sort of play with the colors in some nail art.  I cannot confess to these actually looking anything like maple leaves, but whatever...

Aquatic sparkle feat all ELF product - TPTC

Hey y'all!

If you celebrated Star Wars Day on Sunday, let me start by reminding you to fear the Revenge of the Sixth.  We've entered a new month of Tri-Polish Tuesdays, and this month the colors have gotten substantially less friendly to work with.  This month we'll be featuring nail art using purple, red, and green polishes, and I'm a bit worried about that!  This week I decided to attempt to do another all-ELF polish look, but I didn't really have a planned design in mind.  I just sort of picked three polishes and went with it!

"Fluid" abstract inspired by FingerFood - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Welcome to another Tri-Polish Tuesday!  Today's look is brought to you in just about every way by the lovely and talented Sam at FingerFood.  If you aren't familiar, you definitely need to first crawl out from under your rock, then hop on over and check out her blog, because she does some of the most amazing artwork on her nails.  I've had the privilege of befriending her over these past few months as a budding nail blogger, and when she learned that I was having trouble finding good cheap neon polishes in my part of the country, she offered to help me fix that problem!  Last week I got a little package containing some LA Colors neons, and a surprise bonus leather effect polish from Pretty that my local Poundland doesn't carry.  How sweet is that?  I felt the only appropriate way to repay her was to do this week's Tri-Polish in her signature style, using the colors that she'd sent me, and so I present you with this...

Neon Starbursts - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today's nail art comes courtesy of Vic at Glowstars and Sam at FingerFood, both of whom are responsible for stirring up my need to throw some neon on my nails.   Since I currently only own one truly fluorescent nail polish at the moment, I had to improvise a bit, but I think the results are well worth it.  Still working under this month's Tri-Polish Tuesday colors of pink, blue, and yellow, I present to you this sparkly neon starburst nail art!

Stamped watercolor nail art featuring e.l.f. polishes - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Tri-Polish Tuesday rolls round once more, and we're still working with the April colors of blue, pink, and yellow.  With today's look, I wanted to accomplish two things:  create a soft pastel watercolor effect, and use all three polishes by the same brand, and this nail art featuring three elf polishes fits the bill!

Easy Sponged Rainbow Nail Art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today's nail art is a fun way to to get really colorful without necessarily needing a lot of skill or kit.  When I realized that this month's TriPolish colors are basically the primaries, it occurred to me that I could use just three polishes to get a full rainbow spectrum on the nail, and so I present to you these super easy sponged rainbow nails.

Cadbury's Mini Egg Nail Art - TPTC

Hey y'all!

I thought really long and hard about doing an April Fool's joke here... but decided not to because I couldn't think of anything clever am a nice person.  The first of April heralds the beginning of a new set of colors for the Tri-Polish challenge, and with Easter being so late in the month, I imagine we're going to be seeing a lot of soft pastel blue, pink, and yellow looks before it's all over.  I have had this idea kicking around in my head for a couple of months, but when I had to reshape my nails last week after that bad corner break, it immediately went to the head of the class because I couldn't think of anything more clever like to make the best of bad situations.  Today I have a super simple but almost instantly recognizable nail art look for you - Cadbury's Mini Eggs!

She carried a watermelon through my tree... TPTC

*** Please forgive the titling of this post:  I have twisty issues in my brain.  Unless you completely understand why I did it, in which case, you've taken my heart but you don't know what you've done.  Also, RIP Patrick. ***

 Hey y'all!

Today finds us at the end of another set of colors for Tri-Polish Tuesday, and that makes me sad, because I love this set, but it's probably a little too easy to make these colors work.  I went back and forth on whether or not to post these, but ultimately they won out, and so here you have it.
