Hey y'all!
So, on Tuesday I geeked out a little bit with my prompt for the 12 Days of Christmas nail art challenge. Today, I'm geeking out a considerable amount more, and I'm also trying a new-to-me technique, creating home-made water decals. Our challenge was to pick one day from the 12 Days of Christmas song and use that as our prompt. After hemming and hawing for a few hours, I finally decided to give in and go with my gut, and completely twist the challenge to fit my geek needs. Ergo, I present to you the 10th Doctor (Time Lord), leaping across my nails!

Sneak peek: First 3 minutes of In Your Eyes, a new Joss Whedon film
Hey y'all!
I am deep in the trenches of book editing deadline hell, so I don't have nails to show you, but I did find this and got so excited, I wanted to share.
I've been really curious about this movie since I first read about it a couple of years ago, so I'm so glad to see that it's finally been made and is hitting the festival circuits this year. Maybe by next year it will get a cinematic release! If there are two things Joss Whedon does really well, it's paranormal and romance!
Leave me a comment below and let me know if you're as interested in this movie as I am!

Birthday haul!
Hey y'all!
Since last Friday was my birthday and I posted my vacation haul, I figured it was only appropriate to follow that up today with my birthday haul!
To start, I figure you might want to see the nails I was sporting for my birthday. Basically I was just playing with my nail foils and created this look. Also, sorry for the crappy dry state of my nails - it was an afterthought to actually photograph what I'd done. However, they're shiny and festive and I don't think it was a half-bad first attempt at foil nail art.

Happy Birthday Capt Tightpants, featuring Browncoat Nailart
Hey y'all!
Today should have been a GOT Polish challenge mani, but... well, we all know that I only do that when I feel like it, and the yellow/peach theme was not nearly as enticing to me as celebrating the birthday of my #1 on the laminated list - Mr. Nathan Fillion. I have <3ed him literally since he was Joey Buchanan, and as we all know, a man's Buchananity is what separates him from reptiles and lawn furniture. I even forgive you for that horrible affair with Dorian, Joey. History aside, however, Nathan is best known for two roles anymore - if you know him, it's either as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on "Firefly"/"Serenity", or as Rick Castle on "Castle".
In any event, to celebrate my future baby daddy's 43rd birthday, I did my nails! So much shock! So much surprise!

Tri-Polish Tuesdays - Red, Orange, and Yellow week 2: Firefly/Serenity!
Hey y'all!
So it occurred to me last week during a FB conversation that with January's Tri-Polish challenge theme being red, orange, and yellow, I would be completely remiss not to include a manicure I've been thinking about for a very long time: a tribute to Firefly/Serenity, a la Jayne's hat. I actually had to exit mid-conversation to work on them. Sorry, Evin!

Mani Monday: Inspired by a television show
Happy Monday, friends!
Hubby and I have a running issue: finding movies and TV shows that we can both enjoy. I tend to lean towards fantasy and sci-fi, and whereas he can get into sci-fi, he isn't really a fantasy guy. In the past, we've been able to find common shows that we can watch together (Doctor Who was one of the first things we bonded over), and he's turned me on to things I hadn't seen in the past, and vice-versa. For instance, he has gotten me watch Game of Thrones (we're still going thru season 1, NO SPOILERS PLEASE!), District 9, Super 8, and a few other assorted movies. I suggested he watch Being Human and Battlestar Galactica. I've tried my best to turn him on to my Joss Whedon obsession - the first time we met I made him watch Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and though he'd seen Serenity but didn't "get it", on my first trip to England we sat and watched Firefly, which he didn't really start appreciating until midway through the only season that exists. Pardon me a moment, I still need time to grieve.
Okay, I'm better. Moving on. He liked The Avengers, hated Cabin in the Woods and Buffy, but he willingly watched Much Ado About Nothing with me last month and enjoyed it quite a bit. After many discussions about the kinds of sci-fi he likes, I figured I had one last trick up my sleeve to make him realize why I would, at any given moment, leave him to go make genius babies with the mangod Joss.
Hey wait, isn't this supposed to be a manicure post? Oh yeah. Can you guess from the mani below which Whedon tv show I've suckered hubby into watching, and he actually loves it?
