Hey y'all!
So today I am killing two challenges with one look, because I am just that freakin' slick. Happy Embrace Your Geekness Day! Today brings us to the final prompt in the Embrace Your Geekness Challenge (Cartoon Characters), and my second FingerFood Theme Buffet prompt, which is Skittles. I had to finally pay tribute to my favorite cartoon of all time with this nail art, which is kind of minimalist but I hope some of you will get it.

Video Games: Embrace Your Geekness Challenge
Hey y'all!
Sometimes when you're so intently working a project, you don't quite see when you've reached the finish line. Such is the case with today's nail art, inspired by video games for the Embrace Your Geekness Challenge.

Fandoms Nail Art - Embrace Your Geekness Challenge
Hey y'all!
I'm participating in a mini nail art challenge this week and it's all leading up to Embrace Your Geekness Day on July 13. There are four prompts in this challenge, each focusing on a different aspect of "geek" culture. Today we celebrate fandoms, and I've created a skittles look that features five of my favorite fandoms!

Polka dot skittles - TPTC
Hey y'all!
Something that I haven't been posting about here is that I recently joined a Facebook group created by Debbie (of the Crumpet-y fame) dedicated to learning nail art from the cuticle forward, as it were, called SIMPLES. I wasn't sure when going into it exactly how much interesting blog content I'd be able to derive from this process, but it was important to me to be able to join a group of ladies with ALL LEVELS of experience and sort of go "back to school" with techniques. If the Techniques Challenge has taught me anything, it's that my skills definitely need practice and honing, and so I thought this might be a good way to go about it. We spent the first 4 weeks going over some real basics, like glitter accent nails and simple skittles. This week we've moved on to dotting tools, and Debbie set us with the first lesson I'd never attempted before: the polka dot pattern. Since this was a first for me, and also because I needed to save myself a little bit of time this weekend with painting, I decided to combine today's TPT with this week's SIMPLES and so I give you my tri-polish polka dot skittles!

Holo dot skittles - LNTC
Hey y'all!
Wednesday brings us back around to the Llama Nails Technique Challenge, and this week we're all making skittles, which is a reference to the candy and probably goes back to a manicure long ago where some lovely nail artist painted all of her nails different bright candy colors and decided it looked like fruity candy. Anyway... my own creation for today's challenge is a bit of a fail on two fronts, primarily because even though I really did use different polishes on every nail (promise!) they all kind of look the same, and secondly because my stamping kind of sucks. Here, look.

Pink and Grey skittles - TPTC
Hey y'all!
Can I just tell you guys how grateful I am that this is the last of the pink/grey/brown Tri-Polish Tuesday weeks? In March we move on to purple/blue/green, and that is SO much more to my liking. Thankfully VD month coincided with the pink so that gave me a few timely excuses, but man, this was definitely a challenging set of colors!
The concept for this design actually only ended up being represented on one nail - my ring finger - and it came from a pillow pattern that I saw on Pinterest. Each nail kind of evolved on its own after that, and well... the result is skittlemania!
