Fall-ing for Nail Art: Fall Leaves

Hey y'all!

This week, the Challenge Your Nail Art group is back with another week-long challenge, this time centered around Fall/Autumn and Thanksgiving.  We'll be running daily nail art through Thursday this week, which should lead you all right into Black Friday and money-spending madness as we headroll into the Christmas season.  Today's prompt is Fall Leaves and/or Trees, and I've created this stamped look for you.

Fall or Autumn leaves nail art with marbled stamping over a glittery base.

To create this look, I started with two coats of OPI Red Fingers & Mistletoes, a dark red polish full of orange sparkley shimmer.  To really up the shimmer ante, I added a coat of Max Factor Fantasy Fire, a pale purple jelly with red holo shimmer.

Once my base colors were dry, I marbled MoYou Nails Red, Yellow, and Orange over a leaf image on Cici & Sisi plate 06 and then scraped to get the stamp.  I think I had loftier ambitions for this in my head, because the colors didn't quite marble the way I wanted, and in places it just looks downright muddy.  I will try this technique again over a simpler base to see if I can perfect it.

If you like this look, please take a moment to check out the other Fall Leaves/Trees nail art from this challenge in the inlinkz below.

Also, if you're noticing anything different about my nails, it's because they're now wearing a gel overlay.  I finally got in all my bits and pieces to start working with sculpting gel and gel polish, and I wanted to strengthen the weak free edges of my nails as a first step.  I still have a few scheduled posts from before I applied the gel, and you'll notice those pics have a longer nail in them.  Not sure that it was necessary to disclose all of that, but I'm excited that I was able to do the overlays and I'm happy that I'll be able to keep them strong while the weak, thin nail beds grow out.

As always I would love to hear what you think about this look down in the comments.  To my US readers, enjoy your 3-day week, and for everyone else, I hope you have a great week.  See ya soon!

This is really beautiful, I don't think it's muddy at all! It's really subtle but in a good way!

I don't find it muddy, the disappearing part of the branches is actually cool, it gives an idea of movement, as if they are moving by the wind. Not sure if this makes sense to you but I thought it was great!

I think this is really well planned and subtle. The colors blend well and it makes it look really natural.
