Aquatic Gradient nail art

Hey y'all!

Happy Friday!  Today's nail art comes to you courtesy of me fiddling around in my untrieds again, where I noticed I had a sizable number of blues and teals accumulating, so I decided to pull a few out and make some nail art with them.  The result is this aquatic-feel gradient with an accent nail that I think ended up looking like octopus suckers, though it wasn't the intention.

My palette selection went across the spectrum of brands, shades, and finishes.

L-R: Pure Ice Superstar!, Milani Cyberspace, Revlon Ocean Breeze, Jess Topaz, MUA Midnight

To begin, I applied a single coat of Superstar!, to help make the teal shade pop a little more.  Then I began my sponge gradient of Ocean Breeze and Midnight - both of which turned out a bit thin for sponging, so I ended up doing 6-7 passes to build up the colors.  My ring finger began with two coats of Ocean Breeze with the bottle brush.  I then applied two coats of Topaz over each nail, and it turned out to be a surprise favorite - holo teal glitters are apparently a weakness for me.  Who knew?

For my accent nail, I started doodling swirling lines with a detail brush in Midnight, but decided I didn't like the direction it was taking, so I picked up my dotting tool and began applying dots of Superstar! without much rhyme or reason.  I finished by applying Cyberspace over the white to help merge the color palette together.  When I was done, I decided that it looked a lot like the suckers on an octopus tentacle, but that may have been influenced by the heavily aquatic tones in the rest of the look.

After creating this and writing it up and scheduling it, I realized that it also met criteria for the new 52-week Pick n Mix challenge, which is kind of what TPT and GOT have morphed into, so... yay for coincidence?  In any event... if you're into this sort of look, check out the others from this week.

Have a great weekend, and I'll see ya soon!
