Avast Ye Bilge Rats Pirate Nail Art Challenge Day 5: Freestyle

Ahoy, me hearties!

Today be International Talk Like A Pirate Day, and it be time to batten down t' hatches, ye scurvy dogs, for some more pirate themed nail art.  Savvy?  Today I be takin' t' "freestyle" prompt seriously, and had some fun t' create this look.  Arrrrr ye ready?

Freestyle pirate-themed nail art for the Avast Ye Bilge Rats pirate nail art challenge, day 5.

I really wanted t' get a classic ragged red/white striped pirate clothin' look, so on me thumb, index, and middle fin'ers, I cut a jagged pattern into some maskin' tape and applied it t' t' ends o' me nails, then painted a coat o' Sally Hansen White On over t' top. Then I came in with OPI First Date at the Golden Gate and me stripin' brush t' add t' red stripes, then removed t' tape. I finished those nails by outlinin' t' frayed ends in Sally Hansen Black Out with a detail brush.

On me rin' fin'er, I started with two coats o' White On, and then stamped t' Jolly Roger flag from VL023 (it's a negative space image, so I needed t' white t' show through underneath) towards t' free edge in Konad Black. I didn't like t' black flag hangin' out on t' white base, so I used a detail brush t' cover t' white with more Black Out

Finally on me pinky nail, I used two coats o' First Date at the Golden Gate, and stamped t' cute mermaid image in Konad White, also from VL023. She unintentionally looks like she may be workin' a pole because o' t' reflection in that last picture, but in reality I always thought if I had a pirate ship, I would name her t' White Siren, and this nail represents somethin' similar t' how I always pictured her flag.

This be the last o' th' week's pirate-themed nail arts, so all ye landlubbers best take ye chances to check out all the terrific nail art by clickin' the inlinkz below!

Have yerselves a great Friday, me mateys, and I be seein' yas soon!

So cool! Never seen negative space used like this (well, how often do you see a pirate themed manicure with frayed edged t-shirt material on!?) and I think it works perfectly! So clever! x

I love the stripper mermaid! LOL. Hmm. What kind of name would you give a stripper mermaid? Candy Fishscales? Eel-iza Does Everyone? On another note, I'm digging the ripped look, too! Sweet job.

Recently I went to LegoLand Windsor on my travels on my holiday to mum's house, and there was a pirate show, where they talked like this and they wore red and white stripes and played on jet skis etc.. it was really good, Sophie loved it, and this reminded me of that day!
