FIFA World Cup Nail Art featuring e.l.f.

Hey y'all!

Today is the official start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.  To commemorate the start of the games, I created this colorful, fun tribute to the 2014 games using all e.l.f. products.

Now, admittedly, I don't know a lot about football.  First off, I'm American, so it's soccer.  Secondly, I'm a girl.  Thirdly, it isn't one of the sports I ever played growing up.  I'll gladly sit and watch baseball for hours, but moving to England has meant that I have had to adjust my mindset regarding certain sports that Americans just don't "get", and soccer is the primary culprit.  In an effort to create a little more interest for myself, I decided the best way to take an interest in football is to make some nail art for it!

I created this look using three polishes from the e.l.f. Brights 14 Piece Nail Polish Set.  This is an awesome set with a great variety of colors that are perfect for summer!  I also added in a few polishes from my own e.l.f. collection to complete the look.

L-R: e.l.f. Clear, Green, Sunflower, Confetti Chic, Skinny Jeans, and Matte Finisher.
I started by applying a coat of Skinny Jeans to my ring finger, and 2 coats of Sunflower to all my other nails.  With an e.l.f. blending wedge sponge, I created the green and yellow gradient on all the yellow nails, and cleaned up my skin with a cotton swab and an e.l.f. concealer brush.  I finished off those nails with a dabbed coat of Confetti Chic and sealed everything in with a coat of Clear.

For my accent nail, I hand-painted the logo for the 2014 games on a piece of sandwich bag using Green and Sunflower again.  Once it was dry, I lightly floated a coat of Clear on top, being careful not to smear my design, and left the decal to sit overnight to fully dry.  The next morning, I carefully peeled my decal off the plastic, trimmed the excess clear polish away from the edges, and applied a fresh coat of Clear to my blue accent nail.  While it was still wet, I carefully placed the decal down and smoothed it with my finger to eliminate air bubbles.  When it was fully set, I applied another coat of Clear over the top to seal everything in and level out the polish, and let it dry.

To finish the look, I applied a coat of the Matte Finisher to help bring out the sparkle in the glitters and to keep the glare from obscuring my decal!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this design.  Are you going to be watching the World Cup this month?  I feel fairly certain the Faff house will be watching at least as long as England and America are playing.  After that, I think all bets are off!

Hope you're all having a fantastic day!
