Hey Swatch It! Quirk Polish Peace Is Free

Hey y'all!

I'm back with another UK Indie from Quirk Polish!  This beauty is called Peace Is Free, and originally I wasn't going to swatch it because we thought it was being discontinued.  However, Kerrie just announced that she had a miracle supply for one more batch!

Peace is Free is a glitter topper filled with varying sizes of electric blue and purple hexes, and small fuschia hexes.  Like all Quirk polishes, it is handcrafted and Big3Free.  I've layered it atop Models Own Lilac Sheen, part of the new HyperGel collection, which I'll be reviewing soon.

This is actually the first Quirk polish that I've had to work into getting the glitters out of the bottle.  I turned the bottle upside down overnight and that definitely helped, but I still had to fish for those bigger hexes.  All told, it still only took me about 20 minutes to do a full manicure with PIF, after brushing on the first coat, and then using a makeup sponge to dab the glitters on, and using the sponge and/or brush to move them into place.

I wanted to see how it would look with full coverage, so I really layed them onto my pinky.  I actually think it kind of loses some power by doing that, and I much prefer the sprinkled look.  It also took 2 coats of SV to smooth out that pinky - these glitters are of the thirsty variety!  All other fingers only use one coat and they smoothed perfectly.  I didn't have any issues with curling, or lifting under the SV, but I did notice some stick-ups on the edges where I hadn't really sealed them in.  That's user error, not polish error.

Of course you know I'm bringin the macro shots.  Look how lovely!

And I'm including this one of my thumb, because I laughed when I saw that there's a tiny red glitter hanging out on top of one of the blue hexes in the upper left corner.  If this doesn't prove that Quirk polishes are hand-mixed, I dunno what would.  I'm sure some people might see that as a flaw, but it's entirely endearing to me.  He's my little friend.  You can't have him.  Kerrie sent him to me to be my buddy.

I loved the look glossy, but I couldn't resist mattifying it, and I'm so glad because I think it's even more playful and fun after a coat of OPI Matte Topcoat.

Absolutely gorgeous.

You didn't think I'd leave out the macros of it matted, did you?

Again, this was a huge winner for me from Quirk Polish.  I adore the color blend and the whole thing just screams bright and fun for me.  I am very curious to try this over a dark base to see if it changes the character at all.  If you appreciate these kinds of... ok, I'm gonna say it... "quirky" glitter mixes, you should definitely check out Quirk's shop and like her Facebook page to keep up to date on when Peace is Free will be back in stock.

Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend!  See ya soon!

  2. Thank you for the lovely review! I am sorry about the little red glitter. I do keep my work station nice and clean between batches but those little fiends get everywhere!

    1. LOL Don't apologize for him! Seriously, I was pleasantly surprised to find him! We all know how glitter can be, and it's almost like finding a secret surprise in a box of cereal!

  3. That little red glitter is just darling! I love accidental little touches like that, no one is perfect! I'm glad you find the humor in that because I would have too!I I love the color combinations in this polish and that base you layered it over is just perfect. I agree with you in liking the sparse application more than the "glitter bomb" effect
