Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Nails!

Hey y'all!

It's Tuesday, so I'm back with another Tri-Polish Challenge mani.  If you'd forgotten, February's colors are brown, pink, and grey.  Since it's Valentine's week, I thought there'd be no better chance to make some chocolate dipped strawberries on my nails!

Back home in Austin, there's a candy business that makes the most wonderful chocolate-covered strawberries a handful of times each year, but Valentine's Day is usually one of those times.  While strawberries aren't officially in season in February, many greenhouses are able to produce them out of season, and I've seen some that were near as big as your fist!  Totally sweet and juicy, and covered in creamy milk chocolate... okay, now I'm drooling.  ANYWAY, those strawberries were my inspiration for today's manicure.

I began with a base of Revlon's Scented Parfume Bubble Gum on all nails, and then painted on the leafy tops with green acrylic paint.

When that was dry, I semi-randomly applied elf Chocolate from about 1/3 of the nail down to the tip.  I came back in with a dotting tool to smooth out the lines and make it drippier.

Once that was dry, I topped with SV one nail at a time so that I could add pale yellow microbeads to resemble the strawberry seeds.  My placement on this could've been a little more exact, but I think I didn't plan it well enough when I was adding the chocolate details.  However, I still think they read as seeds, even if hubby looked at them and thought they were Christmas puddings.  :(

Here, have some macros while I chew on the idea that Mr. Faff thinks I'd do Christmas nails in February.

Of course, I bent the concept of these nails to meet the challenge colors. In reality, strawberries are red, not hot pink, blah blah blah. Still, I think it's cute and sort of fits the week o' commercialist lovey-dovey crap, so I'm stickin with it. Hope you're all having a beautiful week and staying warm and dry!

Also, if you're in Austin, go buy some chocolate dipped strawberries.  You know who makes them.  Just eat a dozen for me, okay?

  1. So I am majorly craving chocolate covered strawberries now! Your recreation is absolutely darling,.right down to the little pearl seeds! I'm sorry Mr. Faff thought they were chocolate puddings *scratches head. That's a man for ya. I can't even narrow down a time where I wondered where my hubby got his reasonings, especially when it comes to nail art. It's kind of like trying to tell what a 5 year old drew to them I guess. "Oh it's a car!" "Nooooooo, it's a horse!!!!" Oopsie. Maybe he just needs some of those strawberries and he will understand!

    1. If only! Christmas puddings are vile, evil things, and of course strawberries are the universe's gift to humanity, and chocolate is sacred to women! He has poor eyesight though, and I guess we work in such a miniature scale. But yes, I agree, he needs to try those berries!

Thanks so much for the compliment, as well. :)

  3. Damn it, now I want some chocolate covered strawberries. And for whatever it's worth: when we go strawberry picking here in FL, there are some pink berries not too far off from what you have that are just a tad under-ripe, so I think you are good!

I love the details you did for the little seedlings! Beautiful!

    1. Share my pain, woman! LOL Best thing for under-ripe berries is to use them in sauces and jams - that way they can be sweetened and the tartness kind of fades as they're cooked. That said, if it was all I had, I'd probably still dip a few in chocolate!

      Thanks as always, honey!

    1. Thank you honey! I'm so happy everyone seems to like the seeds, because I was uncertain about them when I finished it.
