Llama Nails Holiday Challenge week 13 - Martin Luther King Day

Hey y'all!

Today's is just going to be a quick post to put up my challenge mani for this week's theme: MLK Day.  Normally I would talk about the significance of the holiday, but frankly I'm running short on time to get the books I'm editing finished, so uhm... Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights pioneer who was cut down far too early, and his activism towards racial equality still stands as a testament to what the power of love can do when it flourishes instead of hatred.

I was inspired by this picture, found on the blog of a mother of three children, sowing3seeds.  I believe it is a reference to a specific part of the famous "I have a dream" speech:

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I started with a base of three coats of China Glaze Are You Jelly? and then topped with SV.  I first outlined the image in one of the only two nail art pens I have,  blue Sally Hansen.  In retrospect that was a mistake because even though I thought I carefully outlined over it with the acrylic, you can see the blue poking out in some places.  The innards are filled with OPI My Vampire is Buff and elf Chocolate.  The scripting on my index and thumb was done with my white Barry M nail art pen.  I still need work with using paint pens, but this was actually the first I'd ever used either of the two I currently own, so we're still gonna chalk it on the big W side of the board..

Be sure to check out these other MLK Day looks.

Hope you're all staying safe and warm!
