12DOC: Red and Green Candy Canes

Hey y'all!

We are now in the final half of the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge, and today's prompt is Red and Green colors.  I took inspiration from the colorful Christmas candy canes (and two of Barry M's Winter Silk shades) to create this striped design.

I began with two coats of Barry M Forest on my pinky, one coat of Sally Hansen White On on my index, and two coats of Barry M Poppy on the remaining three nails.  When dry, I added two coats of OPI Solitaire over the index finger.

With a striping brush, I added the diagonal stripes across my index, middle, and ring fingers.

Finally, I added square silver studs to the thumb and pinky fingers.

Whereas my hands seem to be getting less and less steady as the weeks tick by, I'm pretty satisfied with my freehand stripes on this.  I knew I wouldn't get the color striation I wanted with a stamp, nor the texture.  Those Silk polishes have such a lovely satin matte finish, and of course the OPI liquid sand sparkles and pops against it.

I hope you're having a fantastic weekend, and I will see you Monday!

I love that you used matte and textured polishes for this, I always feel it gives manis an extra something! Your lines are perfect too, I would've guessed you used striping tape! :)

Thank you! It took a few corrections to get them straight but I'm pleased they look that way!

Stop everything--Barry M has suedes?! Omg I need to search for those.

Your nail art is lovely! I thought the strips were done really well, they are crisp on the edges and even a little unsteadiness is covered by that.

Thanks Mandy! I'm forever practicing. One day I'll be able to do them without needing corrections.
I love the textural contrasts and the studs tie everything together so beautifully!
