31DC-D22 - Blobbicure

Hey y'all!

Hope you're all feelin footloose and fancy free!  Today's prompt for the 31-Day Challenge was to create a Blobbicure, also known as a pebble manicure.  I decided to play with some textures and tones to create this... almost patriotic look.

I pulled three Liquid Sand textures and one creme finish from OPI to make it happen.

L-R: OPI Magazine Cover Mouse, Solitaire, Tiffany Case, Viking in a Vinter Vonderland

To begin, I started with one coat of Viking in a Vinter Vonderland and let it dry.  Then I applied a second, thicker coat.

Before that second coat was able to start drying, I used a dotting tool to apply blobs of the three textured polishes and let them "melt" into the base color.

Because Viking is such a dark purple, it looks almost black, which is why I called this look almost patriotic with the red, white, and blue.

Obviously, there's a few dodgy bits here and there, but you can definitely see where the blobs melted against one another.  I'm not super happy with them, but I don't think I'm a fan of the look in general, so that's probably why.  I found it most interesting that using this technique really took away a lot of the texture feel of the Liquid Sand polishes - they don't feel as much like fine sandpaper as they do when applied normally.  This might be a great thing for those of you who are texture-phobic!

As always hope you're doing well, and I'll see ya tomorrow!
