Hey y'all!
It's that time of the month again! No, not THAT time, the time when I team up with bloggy buddy Cat from BGPolish to honor Harry Potter in nail art! This month we've chosen to give some love to the brightest witch of her age, Miss Hermione Granger.
I thought it'd be best to go through this look nail-by-nail, since it's not the most cohesive of overall looks. There was just too much to include! I will say that the base color for the entire manicure is Essie For The Twill Of It, one of my first ever duochrome lovelies. Also, I stupidly put away all my plates before I wrote down which stamp goes to what plate, but pretty much all the plates are from Vivid Lacquer and if pressed I could probably define each one. If pressed. And really harangued. Don't do that.
Obviously, Hermione is a brainy kind of girl, so the biggest nail got a brain stamp in MoYou Nails Pink.
Following on the brainy bit, Hermione is the biggest bookworm at Hogwarts, so it only seemed appropriate to give her a stack of books, stamped in Essie Good As Gold.
Hermione's Patronus is an otter, the favorite animal of J.K. Rowling (and mine, too... actually, Hermione and I have a lot in common!). I used the adjusted watercolor technique to add some blue smoke on the base in Barry M Silver Foil, Models Own Chrome Indigo, and MoYou Nails Light Blue before stamping the... okay, it's a badger. I don't have an otter stamp. Yet. It's stamped with Konad White.
This is possibly the most obscure nail, unless you happen to know the two components of Miss Granger's wand - vinewood and dragon's heartstring. I stamped the viney base from MJXII in Barry M Cocoa, and then added the dragon from VL in Models Own Chrome Mauve.
Last but not least, Hermione has a lot of neat tricks in her giant bag of holding, but my favorite was the first one she was granted in Second Year - a gold time turner that allowed her to take far more classes than a progressive, "normal" timeline would allow. I had to freehand this one in Essie Good As Gold, which is why it's all wibbly-wobbly. Because I can mix my fandoms. Can't you?
I love Hermione so much. She reminds me so much of myself, especially at that age. A bit snotty without knowing or meaning to be, but full of love and friendship and a great sense of adventure!
Who's your favorite Harry Potter character? Let me know down in the comments!
As always, be safe and have a great week. I'll see ya Wednesday!
