The aliens will see you now - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today I've got a lovely soft blue/green/purple look for TriPolish Tuesday using the fan brush sweeping technique, and featuring another gorgeous glitter from Pocket Money Polishes.

I was really stuck on what to call this look, so I opted to pull it from the name of the PMP, because the fan-brushed nails resemble an aerial view through some strato-cirrus clouds.  To me, anyway.  This is an easy-peasy, four-polish manicure.

Top: Pocket Money Polish Alien Like You
Bottom from left: Models Own Blue Glint, Turquoise Gloss, Lilac Sheen

After I swatched Blue Glint, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to use the new HyperGel polishes for this challenge, and as luck would have it, I had all three shades that I needed!

So I started with the two coats of Blue Glint for the swatch, and then used a fan brush to "sweep" Turquoise Gloss over the top from both sides, and repeated that process with Lilac Sheen.  The effect is wispy, summer cloud shapes that just reminded me of those pics of Earth taken from space shuttles.

I left my ring finger and thumb un-wisped, and dug through my recent haul of PMPs for a suitable glitter accent, finally landing on Alien Like You, which has green-gold hexes, smaller dark blue hexes, silver holo diamonds, and big pretty blue holo circle glitters in a clear base.  I can't believe how I've turned from being anti-glitter to a little sparkle glutton over the past 3 months!  I'm disgusted with myself, really, but when Charlie announced she was closing shop, I just had to go grab myself a selection of her shinies and I'm so glad I did!

I topped all the fingers off with a fuschia rhinestone that looks a lot more purple in real life than pictures ever manage to capture.  I'm sad that they look so pink in these shots.

As usual, everything is covered in a coat of SV, and a day was called.

What do you think?  Are you still loving glitters or are you over it already?  I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

As usual, please check out the other purple.blue.green looks in the linkup below, and I hope you're all having a great week!

  1. Love the glitter - hate the removal! Love this mani though! All my favourite colours and some sparkle too! :)

    1. Girl I hear ya. I am gathering supplies now to do a fairly intensive comparison of glitter removal methods, because OOH glitter! but UGH glitter.

  2. Nice job here! I really like the sky-like affect. <3 I have to try this. Although it does look pretty complicated :)

    1. Thank you! It's actually not complicated at all - if you have a fan brush it's literally just sweeping it across a couple of times. You could replicate it with a fine-pointed detail brush but it would take a few more strokes. Super fast and simple.

    1. Thanks babe! I've definitely had some fan brush disasters... the only things that I've found that help me are dabbing off excess polish on paper or a paper towel before I sweep, and keeping it just as light as possible.
