A Girl and Her Polish's Soft Neon Gradient - NCC Recreations

Hey y'all!

It's finally Friday, and that of course brings the next round of Nail Challenge Collaborative posts!  This month we're celebrating 3 years of NCC nail art by recreating past NCC looks.  For my third, I've elected to recreate A Girl and Her Polish's Soft Neon Gradient, a gorgeous look on which I think I missed the mark.

Neon Leopard birthday nail art

Hey y'all!

As you may have read, Saturday was my birthday, and of course I had to give myself a pretty manicure to celebrate, right?  After a lot of hemming and hawing, I finally decided on this bright, sparkly, and fun neon leopard print with black diamond crystals and silver glitter accent.

31DC-D17 - Recreate a mani

Hey y'all!

Happy Saturday!  Today's prompt for the 31-Day Challenge is "Recreate a Mani by your Favorite Blogger."  I actually have far too many "favorite" bloggers to be able to pick just one, but I've had a few manis in my hat for future recreations, so I've just pulled one of those out of the vault.  Jessica at BeHappyAndBuyPolish created this awesome dark blue and neon coral dotticure for her "What You Need to Have (And Keep) Great Nails While At College" composite post, and I loved the color combination so much that I knew I wanted to have a go at recreating it.  Although I didn't have the same colors as Jessica, I approximated them with what I had on hand, and came up with this look.

Hey Swatch It! Claire's Cobalt

Hey y'all!

Today I've got another hot polish to show you!  Most of us gals already know that Claire's is a great place to go for inexpensive accessory items for girls of all ages, but did you know they also have their own line of nail polishes?  I was only vaguely familiar with the brand until I did some online shopping to find the perfect neon blue, which led me to Cobalt.

Acetone wash neon - TPTC

Hey y'all!

I actually did this look a couple weeks back, as you'll be able to tell if you pay attention to the length and shape of my nails, but I wanted to do a bit more playing and research before I revealed it.  I haven't seen anyone else use this particular technique, so I'm calling it an acetone wash. It could be considered a variation of the watercolor technique, but the key difference here is that this technique lets gravity do all the work - I don't manipulate the polish with any tools except the acetone.

An acetone wash is an abstract nail art technique which uses acetone and gravity to color the nails

Hey Swatch It! LilypadLacquer Orange

Hey y'all!

I've had a polish sitting in my "need to do" basket for a long long time, and I finally had a chance to pull it out and show off its beauty.  This is a brilliant neon orange (I know, I've been doing a LOT of orange lately) from an Australian indie that I purchased from Sally Magpies a while back.  Meet LilypadLacquer Orange.

Waterspotted Neon nail art - LNTC

Hey y'all!

This week the Llama Nails Technique Challenge prompted me to try a new technique of which I was very, very frightened.  After having pulled out so many hairs over trying to water marble, I figured that water spotting would yield much the same result.  I am happy to report that it was much easier, although arguably my results aren't as nice as they could have been.

"Fluid" abstract inspired by FingerFood - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Welcome to another Tri-Polish Tuesday!  Today's look is brought to you in just about every way by the lovely and talented Sam at FingerFood.  If you aren't familiar, you definitely need to first crawl out from under your rock, then hop on over and check out her blog, because she does some of the most amazing artwork on her nails.  I've had the privilege of befriending her over these past few months as a budding nail blogger, and when she learned that I was having trouble finding good cheap neon polishes in my part of the country, she offered to help me fix that problem!  Last week I got a little package containing some LA Colors neons, and a surprise bonus leather effect polish from Pretty that my local Poundland doesn't carry.  How sweet is that?  I felt the only appropriate way to repay her was to do this week's Tri-Polish in her signature style, using the colors that she'd sent me, and so I present you with this...

Neon Starbursts - TPTC

Hey y'all!

Today's nail art comes courtesy of Vic at Glowstars and Sam at FingerFood, both of whom are responsible for stirring up my need to throw some neon on my nails.   Since I currently only own one truly fluorescent nail polish at the moment, I had to improvise a bit, but I think the results are well worth it.  Still working under this month's Tri-Polish Tuesday colors of pink, blue, and yellow, I present to you this sparkly neon starburst nail art!

Abstract Neon Brushstroke Mani - LNTC

*** Update:  I passed! ***

Hey y'all!

So as this posts, I am setting off on my practical driving exam... for which I'll post an update once it's done, but if you're reading this between 10-12 GMT on Feb 26, 2014... wish me some luck!  That said, today's nails are all about the Llama Nails Technique Challenge: Brushstroke Mani.  The brushstroke mani automatically lends itself to abstract designs, so I added a neon theme in the secondary color scheme, and here is the result:
