Green and Gold Plunging V Nail Art - NCC Inspired By Fashion

Hey y'all!

It occurred to me a few days ago that I had managed to schedule the entire month of March with posts but neglected to do any St. Patrick's Day looks, a grievous error which I hastened to rectify.  Today of course is NCC Friday, and I decided that I could do a really great green and gold look utilizing a current fashion trend.

31DC-D15 - Green Base

Hey y'all!

We're just about halfway through this 31-day challenge, and the fatigue is starting to show on me, but I still feel like I'm accidentally coming up with some cool looking nail art, so on I persevere.  Today's prompt is Green Base, so I grabbed a handful of green polishes in different finishes, and went to work adapting an older technique to suit my purpose.

Green base sponged watercolor nail art with rhinestones and glitter accents.

31DC-D4 - Happiness

Hey y'all!

We're moving right along in the 31DC, aren't we?  To end the weekend and hopefully send you all into Monday morning with a smile, today's prompt is Happiness, so I tried to piece together the happiest nail art I could, given the sour weather and house full of sick and/or injured people and puppies.

Sunshine, happiness, and butterfly distressed nail art.

Avast Ye Bilge Rats Pirate Nail Art Challenge Day 3: Gold and/or Treasure

Ahoy, me hearties!

I'm back again for day 3 of the Avast Ye Bilge Rats pirate-themed nail art challenge, and today's prompt is all about the BOOTY BLING!  Today's manis will all be themed around buckets of doubloons, pieces of eight and any other beauties a freebooter might covet - Gold and/or Treas-ARRR!

Grey Pond nail art

Ed. note: this post was written and scheduled before yesterday's events transpired.  I thought briefly about moving it because it's a very somber, morose color scheme, but have ultimately decided to let it ride when and as-is.

Hey y'all!

I was swatching some polishes that I ordered from Quirk just before the shop closed, and I came across this gorgeous grey crelly finish and ended up creating this dark freehand pond effect nail art that I wanted to share with you.

No H8 in the nail art community

Hey y'all!

So over the weekend, some events transpired.  Instead of giving more attention to the low-class troublemakers in question or further pouring salt in the wound of those who were bullied, I am just going to say that it's really easy to be a cyber bully because you can do so anonymously, but it takes strength of character, maturity, and class to help lift others up when you're feeling down, instead of trying to drag them down with you.   At the end of the day, this is all JUST.NAIL.POLISH and I'd rather help spread a message of love and acceptance.  The manicure that I'm sporting today is a show of support for the No H8 movement - not just in nail polish, but in everything, really.  Hate is such a useless emotion and I wish we could all just move past it and stop hurting one another.

You look positively Orange with loneliness - CMC

Hey y'all!

This week the Colour Me Crazy prompt turned to orange, and since no other word rhymes with orange, it must be a very lonely color indeed.  I dunno, that's just what Big Bang Theory taught me.  In reality I love orange and took this prompt as an opportunity to have fun with several different orange shades in my collection.  Also, I'm not into prison-chick naughtiness, so I'll have none of that OITNB nonsense, do you hear me??

Colour Me Crazy: Red Hearts Tips

Hey y'all!

Quickie double-post today for two reasons.  First off, the British Nail Bloggers have started a new weekly challenge centered around colors, and this first week is all RED!  I am sooo late to the ball game on this one, but I'm gonna sneak in really quick before the linkup closes.  Secondly, I wanted to announce that I won 2nd place in BGPolish's first week of nail art competitions with my duochrome lace mani, so I will receive a 30% off coupon for Dark Metal Lacquers, a UK indie.  So that's cool.  Anyway... to kick off the Colour Me Crazy challenge, here's my tribute to red.

Hey Swatch it: Quirk Polish Novels and Nails April: The Picture of Dorian Gray

Hey y'all!

You may remember a few weeks ago I reviewed the introductory box set offering from Quirk's Novels and Nails box set.  Today I'm back with April's box, and oh my dot, am I hooked this month.  This month we received a package centering around Oscar Wilde's only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Hey Swatch It! Quirk Polish Novels and Nails March box - Peter Pan

Hey y'all!

Back in February, Kerrie announced that she was bringing a new monthly box to her Quirk store, built on the back of her two greatest loves: nail polish and literature.  When an intelligent, talented, creative woman has two loves that war against one another in her heart, her only option is to try to find a way to merge those loves, and as such, Quirk's Novels & Nails was born.  The story goes like this: subscribers receive a monthly box which contains one of Kerrie's favorite books and two limited edition Quirk polishes based on that book, along with some other treats for good measure.  Since I happen to share both of Kerrie's passions, you KNOW I was in line for pre-order!

In March, the first lot of boxes went out, all centered around the book Peter Pan & Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens by J.M. Barrie.

Electric Cotton Candy (Faery Floss)

Hey y'all!

I'm back with another new technique, courtesy of the Techniques Challenge presented by Llama Nails.  This week our prompt was Sugar Spun Mani, so I created a candy-coated look with three bright colors.

Hey Swatch It! Quirk Polish Peace Is Free

Hey y'all!

I'm back with another UK Indie from Quirk Polish!  This beauty is called Peace Is Free, and originally I wasn't going to swatch it because we thought it was being discontinued.  However, Kerrie just announced that she had a miracle supply for one more batch!

Hey Swatch It! Quirk's Fantine

Hey y'all!

Today I just wanted to share a few pics of a gorgeous glitter topper I recently bought from the lovely Kerrie at Quirk Polish.  I actually purchased 2 glitter toppers, but as the second one is now discontinued I felt it would be wrong to tease you with it in a Swatch It post.

May I introduce you to the heartbreakingly lovely Fantine.

Llama Nails Holiday Challenge week 10: Christmas

Hey y'all!

First off, let me wish all of you a Merry Christmas!  I'm going to keep today's post relatively faff-free, but picture-heavy, because I kind of love this manicure for the Llama Nails challenge: Christmas.

CNTCWC D3: Holiday Colors

Hey y'all!

So today's theme is Holiday Colors (actually, the list says Holiday Colours, but yanno, I'm a 'murkin), and this is the first time that I've ever had a mani ready to go with pics and everything and then completely changed it on the day of posting.  I got some nail mail this morning of two limited edition Quirk polishes (and by limited edition, I mean there were like, 3 of each made) and was so excited that I scrapped my Christmas baubles mani altogether, though it may show up later in the challenge.

Quirk is another UK indie, created by Kerrie of PishPosh and Polish.  They are handmade, 3-free, and currently consist of glitter toppers, but since the line is new, I imagine this will not always be the case.  I purchased her two holiday LEs, one called Candy Land and the other called Evergreen.

Since the theme is Holiday Colors, I thought what better way to play with new polish than to use them in the nail art challenge THAT VERY SAME DAY???
