Llama Nails Holiday Challenge week 14 - Australia Day

Hey y'all!

Well, I'm a day late and a dollar short, and I apologize.  Yesterday a migraine took me out of commission and I couldn't stand to look at the computer screen, so posting was out of the question.  This of course means I'm backed up on 2 challenge posts, since I don't want to double-post to catch up, so yesterday's post is today, and today's post is tomorrow.  Make sense?  Nah, not for me either.  Anyway... Llama Nail's penultimate holiday challenge theme is Australia Day, which is celebrated on January 26.

I wasn't really sure where to go with this one, seeing as I've zero experience with Australia Day, but it seems to be quite similar to Independence Day, and it has it's own logo.  I took inspiration from that and sort of merged aspects of the Australian flag with the logo above to create my look.

My base for the star fields is Belle Glamour's In The Deep, a gorgeous cobalt blue shimmer.  I drew the (7-pointed?!? What the deuce, Australia?) stars using my Barry M White nail art pen.

The thumb nail is 3 coats of Maybelline Winter Baby, topped with no-name nail art stripers in shimmery green, yellow, red, and blue to recreate the flag.  The messy is more obvious in these shots than it was at arm's length, but I know that those stripers are not the best quality and I will be honest - I (obviously) just kind of cranked this out in a hurry.  My apologies, Australians.

I hope if you're from the land down under, you'll enjoy this weekend's festivities and throw a burger on the barbie for me.  To everyone else, hope you're having a great week.

Please also show some support to these other Australia Day manicures.

    1. LOL I did notice you used a 5-pointer, but it totally worked. I am particularly giggly over how my pinky looks a bit like Batman, something I didn't notice til I uploaded the pics. Thanks as always, Angie :)
